Some, maybe many believe it is determinative to a degree. I reject the necessity of that conclusion. God never wanted our theology to be static. As sinful beings remade in the image of Christ as we behold Him daily we’re being transformed daily. I believe that’s a good thing for our hearts, minds, personality and even our theology.
I’m comfortable with that dynamic and welcome it to change me and my theology to be reshaped into the mind of Christ.

My current participation (for seventeen years now) has been within an Anglican Church.

Might I just say that apart from the grace of God, there is no capacity within me to contribute to or accomplish what He alone can do. Just as this is true of creation, so it is with salvation.

My understanding is that Wesleyans believe the Bible is inerrant in all aspects however where reason tradition and experience comes in is what forms one’s theological view point. A person comes to the theological view they hold as a result of the cross section of scripture, tradition, reason and experience.

Both are true – for who so ever believes in Him…John 3:16. AND predestination, chosen before the foundation of the world, & predestined us according to His will…Ephesians 1 & Romans 8!

Bible is True! Both are taught! Praise God!

I would be interested to hear more about the comment concerning tradition, reason and experience. Perhaps this depends upon the differences found in certain individual churches or pastors, rather than across the denomination?
