Sikes Family Field Dedication: A Day of Celebration and Legacy

Saturday, March 1, 2025, was a historic and heartfelt day for 漫天堂入口 as we gathered to honor a true legend with the dedication of Sikes Family Field. The day began with a VIP Luncheon at 11:00 AM in the Tye Performance Center’s overlook, where over 120 guests had the privilege of sharing a special time with Coach Jeff Sikes and his family. His mother, wife Margie, children, grandchildren, former players, close friends, and coworkers were all in attendance. The luncheon, hosted by Woody’s BBQ, provided an intimate setting for meaningful conversations and reflections on Jeff鈥檚 incredible journey.

Following the luncheon, the dedication ceremony took place at 12:30 PM near home plate, on the newly named Sikes Family Field. Athletic Director Sean Hanrahan opened the ceremony, welcoming over 240 guests and setting the tone for an afternoon of gratitude and recognition. 漫天堂入口鈥檚 President, Dr. Gentry Sutton, then spoke about Jeff鈥檚 remarkable legacy and the profound impact he has had on the institution.

Alumnus and unwavering Warner supporter Rob Quam followed, sharing his personal connection to Coach Sikes, having been part of Jeff鈥檚 first team in 1984. Rob spoke not only of their friendship and shared history but also of Jeff鈥檚 unwavering faith and commitment to developing young men both on and off the field.

When Coach Sikes took the stage, he humbly expressed his appreciation for everyone in attendance. He acknowledged the countless players who had shaped his coaching career, the unwavering support of his family, and the journey that led to this significant moment. Jeff reflected on the early days of Warner baseball when the field was in a different location and how his father, along with other dedicated individuals, transformed the land into what is now Sikes Family Field. Their labor of love鈥攃learing palmetto roots, plowing the dirt, and laying the field by hand鈥攚as a testament to their devotion to Warner, baseball, and sharing the love of God. Jeff concluded his remarks by sharing his faith and the role it has played in his life and coaching career.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a framed #15 jersey to Coach Sikes, officially retiring his number from Warner baseball. The moment was met with great emotion as it symbolized Jeff鈥檚 lasting influence on the program.

Attention then turned to the unveiling of a new monument at the stadium entrance. Hanrahan explained that Warner鈥檚 leadership wanted to honor Jeff鈥檚 legacy in a meaningful way, incorporating bricks purchased by donors into the structure. Atop the monument, a bronze plaque now stands, commemorating the naming of Sikes Family Field and celebrating Jeff鈥檚 extraordinary contributions.

The celebration continued on the field as the Warner Royals faced Mount Vernon Nazarene University, coached by Jeff鈥檚 longtime friend, Coach Keith Veale. The teams split the doubleheader 1-1, marking a fitting conclusion to a day filled with honor, camaraderie, and love for the game.

Jeff states, 鈥淚 want to thank Dr. Sutton, Coach Hanrahan, Scarlett Jackson, Abby Crawford, Jess Nelson, and others for all the time, energy, and creativity they employed to put this day together. They thought of everything, and then some. It was a special day for me and my family. The naming of the field is flattering, humbling, and much appreciated. We are truly honored and blessed. But the standout, overflowing joy of the day emerged from the people this ceremony brought together, the folks we were blessed to share the day with. We were overwhelmed by the love and support that hundreds of former players, their families, and so many other friends demonstrated toward us. To be able to rekindle treasured relationships, and to fellowship with so many we love, was priceless. We will always remember it. Thank you again Royal Nation.鈥

This dedication was more than just a naming ceremony鈥攊t was a tribute to a man who has exemplified Warner鈥檚 mission of guiding individuals toward Christlike character, intellectual maturity, and service. Dr. Sutton says, 鈥淛eff has left a lasting impact on Warner, on countless members of the faculty and staff, and on hundreds of students. Many of Jeff鈥檚 former players will feel his impact eternally because of his commitment to sharing the gospel with them.鈥

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us in making this day special. And to Coach Jeff Sikes鈥攖hank you for the legacy you have built, the lives you have touched, and the example you have set for generations to come. 漫天堂入口 is forever grateful.
